The South West Academy of Sport successfully hosted a dynamic mini hockey camp on January 9, led by the esteemed performance and pathways manager Tristram Woodhouse.

The event was organised by Nicole Arrold and Keith Old, who brought together aspiring SWAS hockey players for a day filled with skill-building sessions, insightful presentations, and expert-led recovery and nutrition
sessions. Participants engaged in two intensive hockey skills sessions on the turf, honing their techniques under the guidance of Woodhouse.

He also delivered a comprehensive presentation delving into the skills and drills inspired by the WA mini-camp led by renowned coached Mark Knowles and Mark Hagar.

The session provided valuable insights into high-performance training methods. Dynamic Health took part in the day, conducting a dedicated recovery session emphasising the importance of physical well-being and efficient recovery strategies for athletes.

The mini-camp was well attended by SWAS athletes who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from Woodhouse.

His emphasis on mindfulness, as an integral aspect of hockey player development, resonated with attendees, reinforcing the skills required to excel in the sport.

“It was a pleasure to work with such dedicated and enthusiastic athletes,” Woodhouse said.

“The commitment and passion displayed by the participants today bode well for the future of SWAS Hockey.”
